  • Pixel-accurate description truncation at ~920px (desktop) and ~560px (mobile)

  • Breadcrumb path extracted from your canonical URL
  • One-click copy for title and description

Why it Matters

Your title and meta description are your ad in Google search. A title that's 2 characters too long gets truncated with an ellipsis, potentially hiding the keyword or brand name. A description that's too short looks thin and gets rewritten by Google. Seeing the exact snippet before you publish means you can fix these issues in seconds rather than discovering them after indexing.

What this tool does

The SERP Preview tool shows exactly how your page title and meta description will appear in Google search results — including where the text gets cut off on both desktop and mobile.

How it works

Enter a title, meta description, and canonical URL. The tool measures approximate pixel widths using the same font sizes Google uses in its layout, truncates at the right point with a trailing ellipsis, and highlights whether each field is too short, a good length, or too long.

Free vs Pro

The free tool handles one page at a time and stores nothing. A proposed SERP Preview Pro would add bulk preview from a CSV or sitemap, saved projects, and team sharing.

Privacy

Everything runs locally in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the pixel-width truncation?
The tool estimates pixel width using a lookup table based on Arial character advances scaled to the font sizes Google uses in its SERP layout (20px for titles, 14px for descriptions on desktop). It is a very close approximation, but Google uses its own font stack and may reflow text slightly differently. Use the character count indicators (50–60 for titles, 150–160 for descriptions) as the primary signal.
Does Google always use my meta description?
No. Google rewrites the description snippet for about 62% of pages, especially when the query intent doesn't match your description. Writing a good description still matters — it often appears for branded queries and when Google judges it relevant — but don't assume it will always be shown verbatim.
What is the ideal title length?
Aim for 50–60 characters (roughly 580px on desktop). Titles shorter than 50 characters may leave valuable keyword or brand space unused. Titles longer than 60 characters risk truncation with '…' which can hide your message or call to action.
What is the ideal meta description length?
Aim for 150–160 characters (roughly 920px on desktop). Descriptions under 120 characters look thin. Over 160 characters and Google will truncate the text at a word boundary and add an ellipsis.
Why is the mobile preview narrower?
Mobile SERP results are rendered in a narrower column (approximately 320px for titles, 560px for descriptions). A title that fits perfectly on desktop may be truncated on mobile, so checking both views before publishing is important.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
