Terms of Use

The rules for using Tools.Town. Short version: be reasonable, don't abuse the service, and we'll keep it free.

TL;DR — Use the tools for almost anything. Don’t try to break them, don’t resell access, and don’t use them to do harm. We may rate-limit free abuse.

1. Acceptance

By using Tools.Town (the website, the API, or embedded widgets), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

2. Free tier

Free, no sign-up access for personal and commercial use, subject to fair-use limits:

  • Reasonable browser usage. We don’t count clicks; if you hammer a single tool with automated traffic from your browser, you may get rate-limited.
  • API access requires an API key (free tier included).
  • Embeds are allowed on free websites with our default branding.

3. Premium and API tiers

Paid plans (managed via Stripe) raise rate limits, remove ads, unlock embed customization, and grant higher API quotas. Cancellation is anytime; we don’t pro-rate refunds for partial periods.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to violate laws (yours or ours).
  • Target individuals — harassment, doxing, intentional privacy violations.
  • Generate content that promotes hate, violence, or sexual abuse of minors.
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, scrape the entire tool catalog, or reverse-engineer paid features.
  • Use AI tools to generate content that misleads about the AI’s involvement when disclosure is legally required.

We may suspend accounts that violate these rules, with a refund of unused subscription time where applicable.

5. Tool accuracy

We try to make every tool accurate. We don’t guarantee results. Don’t rely on a calculator on this site for tax filings, medical decisions, or legal advice without verifying with a qualified professional.

6. Embeds

If you embed a Tools.Town tool on your site:

  • The embed is yours to keep working as long as the tool exists. We commit to backwards-compatibility for embed URLs.
  • We may show ads in the embed unless you have a Premium plan.
  • Don’t strip our branding without a Premium plan.
  • Your domain may be required in the signed embed URL — we won’t honor embeds outside that domain.

7. API

  • API keys are bearer tokens — keep them secret. We’re not liable for charges from leaked keys, but we’ll work with you to rotate.
  • The API may have outages. We aim for 99.9% uptime; we don’t promise it on free tier.
  • We may version-bump the API; we deprecate old versions with at least 6 months’ notice.

8. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. We’re not liable for damages arising from use, including but not limited to data loss, missed deadlines, or business losses. Our total liability is capped at the amount you’ve paid us in the last 12 months.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. If material, we’ll notify you (banner on next visit; email if subscribed). Last updated 1 May 2026.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts of Mumbai.
