Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between triadic and tetradic?
Triadic = 3 colors evenly spaced 120° apart on the color wheel. Tetradic = 4 colors at 90° spacing (a square). Triadic is balanced and vibrant; tetradic offers more variety but is harder to balance.
When should I use complementary vs analogous?
Complementary (opposite colors) creates strong contrast — good for CTAs and emphasis. Analogous (neighbours) is harmonious and calming — good for backgrounds and gradients.
Why does monochromatic only show 5 colors?
Monochromatic is lightness variants of one hue (-40, -20, 0, +20, +40). Five steps cover most useful variation; more would feel redundant.
