Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we don't, and what we do with it. The short version: most Tools.Town tools run entirely in your browser; nothing you type into them ever leaves your device.

TL;DR — Most tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator, password generator, or hash tool is transmitted to us or to anyone else. Where we do collect data (account, billing, API usage), we keep it minimal and never sell it.

What we collect

When you visit any page

  • Standard request logs (IP, user-agent, referrer, URL) for security and abuse prevention. Cloudflare handles these and we delete them after 30 days.
  • Basic privacy-respecting analytics (page views, country, browser) via Cloudflare Web Analytics. No fingerprinting, no cookies, no cross-site tracking.

When you use a tool

  • Most tools: nothing. Calculators, password generators, hash generators, text utilities — these run entirely in your browser. Your inputs never reach our servers.
  • AI tools and file processors: your input is sent to our API to be processed. We don’t store it after the response is returned.

When you create an account (on our dashboard)

  • Email, password (hashed with bcrypt), and any name you choose to set.
  • Subscription / payment status — Stripe holds the card data; we just see “active / past_due / cancelled”.

When you use the API

  • API request count, endpoint, and response status — for billing and rate limiting.
  • We don’t store request bodies or response bodies.

What we don’t collect

  • We don’t fingerprint your device.
  • We don’t track you across other sites.
  • We don’t sell or rent your data.
  • We don’t read your tool inputs.

Cookies

  • A session cookie when you sign in to the dashboard. Required for login.
  • A theme preference cookie — theme=dark or theme=light. Lets us respect your dark-mode choice across visits.
  • We do not use third-party cookies for tracking or advertising.

Data we share

  • Stripe — for billing.
  • Our auth provider (auth.surror.workers.dev) — for session management.
  • Compelled disclosure to law enforcement only on receipt of a valid legal order.

Your rights

You can:

  • Export everything we have on you — request via hello@tools.town.
  • Delete your account and all associated data — from your dashboard or by request.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we’ll show a banner the next time you visit. Last updated 1 May 2026.
