How to use
- Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- Type your watermark text — a name, handle, or © notice.
- Choose one of nine positions, then adjust opacity, size, and colour.
- The preview updates live — click Download watermarked image to save it.
Positioning
Watermarks sit at one of nine anchors: the four corners, the four edge midpoints, or the centre. A small margin (a fraction of the shorter side) keeps the text off the very edge, and the placement is clamped so a long watermark never runs outside the image. Corners are the usual choice — bottom-right is the convention for photo credits — while the centre works as a heavier, harder-to-crop deterrent.
Making it legible
Light text can disappear on light backgrounds and dark text on dark ones. The watermark is drawn with a soft drop shadow so it stays readable across mixed backgrounds, and you can fine-tune opacity to balance visibility against subtlety. A 40–60% opacity usually reads clearly without overwhelming the image.
A note on protection
A visible watermark deters casual copying and keeps your name attached to shared work, but it isn’t tamper-proof — a determined editor can crop or paint it out. For stronger deterrence, place it where removal would damage the image (across a subject, or centred) and keep the opacity high enough to be obvious.
Private by design
The watermark is rendered entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded, which keeps the edit instant and your files private — ideal for proofs, unpublished photos, and confidential screenshots.
