Character Counter is now live on Tools.Town — a real-time writing stats tool that counts characters, words, sentences, and paragraphs as you type, with built-in limits for the platforms you write for most.
Paste your copy, check the count, and know immediately if you’re over or under the limit — no more counting by hand or getting cut off mid-post.
What Does It Do?
Characters
Total character count with and without spaces. Updates on every keystroke.
Words
Word count, sentence count, and paragraph count — useful for article length and readability checks.
Limits
Built-in limits for Twitter, LinkedIn, SMS, meta descriptions, and custom targets. Color-coded warnings.
Your text never leaves your browser — everything is processed locally with no server requests.
How It Works
Type or paste
Start typing or paste your text into the counter. Stats appear immediately.
Set a limit
Pick a platform preset (Twitter, LinkedIn, SMS) or enter a custom character limit.
Check the status
The progress bar turns amber at 80% and red when you exceed the limit — easy to spot at a glance.
Why We Built It
Every platform has a different character limit, and they all count differently (Twitter counts URLs as 23 chars; SMS splits at 160 chars per segment). Checking these manually is tedious and error-prone. Character Counter puts all the counts you care about in one place, with the platform context you need to know whether your copy fits.
