ℹ️ Informational only — not medical or fitness advice. Estimates are approximate.

The new Calories Burned calculator estimates the energy you use in a workout from your own weight, your time, and the activity — not a generic chart.

What it does

  • Twelve common activities with published MET values, plus a custom-MET option.
  • Personalised by your body weight, the biggest factor in the formula.
  • Total, per-minute, and per-hour calorie rates so you can compare workouts.
  • MET-based using the ACSM formula, entirely in your browser.

Why we built it

Generic “this activity burns X calories” figures ignore the person doing it, which makes them close to meaningless. By starting from your weight and time, this calculator gives a far more useful estimate — while being upfront that all such numbers are approximations. It’s a natural companion to our daily calorie tool.

Try it

Open the Calories Burned calculator and pick your workout. To understand METs, the formula, and how accurate these estimates really are, read MET Values and How Calories Burned Are Estimated. For daily needs, see the Calorie Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it calculated?
With the ACSM MET formula: calories per minute = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200, times your duration. Your weight personalises the result.
Is it precise?
No. MET values are population averages, so estimates can vary 15–30% per person. Use the number as a guide, not a measurement.
