Indian invitations, records, and official calendars often use the Vikram Samvat or Shaka Samvat era instead of the Gregorian year. The new Hindu Calendar Converter bridges the two in either direction.
What it does
- Both eras: Vikram Samvat (VS) and Shaka Samvat (SS).
- Both directions: Gregorian → Hindu and Hindu → Gregorian.
- New-year aware: handles the ~22 March Chaitra boundary.
- Lunar month: shows the approximate lunar month for context.
- Spans: notes when an era year covers two Gregorian years.
Why it matters
Knowing that 2025 is Vikram Samvat 2082 and Shaka 1947 lets you read traditional dates at a glance — and work out which Gregorian year a samvat date falls in.
A note on accuracy
The era year is exact arithmetic, but the Hindu calendar is lunisolar, so the lunar month shown is approximate. The tool is honest about that limit.
